English abstract

This paper focuses on Enrico Mandolesi’s technical research as applied to industrial prefabrication on a case study in the Salivoli neighbourhood in Piombino. This research has summed up the cautious advent of prefabrication and the gradual development of the architectural language it was linked to. This language has been revised over the years through a kind of prefabrication which invests in building elements rather than on the entire production process. The experiment in Piombino is paradigmatic: all the prefabricated construction elements preserve visionary and decorative tension through new construction details, carefully integrated with industrial elements.
