Additional information

The NHS Cervical Screening Programme commissioned a review of the literature about cervical screening guidelines for lesbians and bisexual women. As a direct outcome of the review, the NHS Cervical Screening programme amended the guidelines which state that screening should be offered to all women regardless of their sexual orientation. Prior to the review, lesbians and bisexual women had been advised they were not at risk for cervical cancer.
