This research was funded by the EPSRC funded “PV SUPERGEN” (EP/F029624/1) collaborative project and came out of a concerted research effort to develop new techniques to provide insights into the performance of thin film PV. This paper reports on the application of a new variant of this device mapping instrument that enabled for the first time the identification of defects with different layers within the structure. We are exploring potential industrial partners to manufacture this instrument
