Additional information

This article was part of a special issue of Contemporary Theatre Review entitled 'The Broadway Musical: New Approaches' (2009). The special issue was guest edited by Dominic Symonds and Dan Rebellato. It sought to reflect the current landscape of critical musical theatre scholarship following the significant development in the area since the Millennium. Each article considered a key musical theatre text from the perspective of a critical theory. In this case, Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George (1984) was explored from a Derridean perspective. Together, Symonds and Rebellato also wrote the editorial to the special issue which contextualises and frames the collected essays.
