Novel anticorrelation criteria for model-based experiment design: Theory and formulations
Design-of-Experiments (DOE) based on black-box sampling is 50 years old and includes Macchietto’s pioneering use of deterministic, dynamic models. However all this previous work used “classic” objective functions. This paper presents new understanding of design objectives and constraints, enables the versatile tailoring of problem formulations to problems, and results in more robust solutions with applications in Engineering (DOI=10.1021/ie400133m), Process Control (DOI= 10.1016/j.jprocont.2011.12.004) and Biology (DOI=10.1016/j.ces.2012.05.002) . It resulted in prestigious keynotes including the opening lecture at the Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge (http://www.newton.ac.uk/programmes/DAE/index.html
http://www.newton.ac.uk/programmes/DAE/seminars/2011071811301.html ) and closing lecture at the 1st Aachen Conference on Computational Engineering Science (http://www.acces11.rwth-aachen.de/MainContents/KeynoteLect.php).
