Additional information
This paper presents a mathematical model for the transport of nitric oxide (NO) in an arterial stenosis model. The novel contribution is that it provides theoretical evidence for hindered NO transport in regions of disturbed flow. This study was designed and completed under XYX’s guidance when the first author (PhD student at Beihang University) visited Imperial in 2011. This work has led to new collaborations with Beihang (sponsored by the Chinese Natural Science Funding Council, 11228205). It has also provided a platform for modelling drug transport in solid tumours as part of an EPSRC Healthcare Partnership grant (EP/I001700/£1.26M).
