Additional information

'Superspreading' has fascinated researchers since the 80s; its resolution is of importance to coating flow technology. It was unclear what led certain surfactants to drive extraordinarily rapid spreading of liquids in non-wetting situations to perfect wetting. We identified the mechanism underlying the superspreading process in this paper published in the Journal of Fluid mechanics, and highlighted in its "Focus on Fluids" feature. It has led to 8 invited talks (including keynotes at the Fields Institute, Toronto, 2012; MMT2012, Israel, 2012; ECCOMAS2012, Vienna, 2012), and funded EPSRC grant ([EP/J010502/£700K] with OKM as PI).
