Double-weighted statement

This is the most comprehensive history book ever written on Scotland in the long sixteenth century. It is over 300,000 words in length and involved many years of research into the Scottish People. To find evidence of elite and non-elite people in particular, extensive research had to be done in archival and printed primary sources. An extensive review of historiography, past and recent, also had to be undertaken to produce a book with the very latest research in every field of historical, literary, cultural, architectural and archaeological scholarship relating to sixteenth-century Scotland.
