Nanocrystalline diamond as an electronic material: An impedance spectroscopic and Hall effect measurement study
International collaboration with a leading research centre, Naval Research Laboratories (Washington), showing that nanocrystalline diamond can be very high in quality. Led to an approach by a multinational company (Photonis SAS) – Jackman acted as consultant, leading to patents (Nutzel, Lavoute, Jackman); Electron multiplier detector consisting of a layer of highly doped nanodiamond, pub.13/06/2013 US20130146778 A1; An electron multiplying structure for…pub. 30/05/13 WO2011149; Electron multiplier device using a layer of nanodiamonds WO/2012/034948 pub. 22/03/12. Funding from Photonis (2010-12, £175k), plus fully funded PhD (2011-14). Jackman has been involved in field trials of devices, which are expected to become commercial products.
