A machine learning approach to assessing gait patterns for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

<28>This work on systematic assessment of the feasibility of using a low-cost accelerometer to monitor and assess gait patterns for CRPS at home or in a healthcare environment forms the basis for on-going wearable sensor-based gait analysis research. The paper has led to several further journal publications, two £25K Innovation applications, and a Northern Ireland Department of Employment and Learning CAST PhD studentship award. A follow-up PhD project was also funded to extend this work. The research strengthens long-term collaboration with Bath Institute of Medical Engineering and provides the basis for new co-operation, research exchanges and journal publications.
