Additional information

An international collaboration to produce a novel instrument to measure the tendency of powder blends to segregate in handling due to air counter-flow. Previous instruments (ASTM D6941) cannot be used for non-fluidisable powders (Geldart group C) which are common in industry and known to segregate by air effect. This instrument gives closer simulation of the mechanism occurring in industry, allows such powders to be tested, and gives more relevant measurements for all powders. 7 companies (GSK, Sandvik, Norgine etc) have funded 12 follow-on projects to use this instrument for research and resolution of segregation in their processes.
