Additional information

This paper describes the successful design and construction of a solid-state magneto-inductive sensor system for detecting and imaging ferrous targets embedded in opaque media. This work led to collaboration with Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants Ltd (contact details available, www.genesisoilandgas.com), and the establishment of a University team to develop a single-sensor system to detect defects within the walls of subsea oil and gas pipelines. One such system is shortly due for commercial launch.
