<07> This paper summarises the conclusions from an influential and controversial debate that raged within the Grid community. As a result of our work, the main grid standards body (GGF) and major companies abandoned their key grid standard. The CTO of JBoss/Red Hat, Dr Mark Little (mlittle@redhat.com), wrote that Newcastle's work: "has influenced vendor strategies as much as it has been influenced by those strategies, which is refreshing". The paper captures and compares all sides of a complex argument; it is co-authored by Ian Foster, the most influential researcher in Grid Computing.
