Additional information

Paper describes development and test of energy converters for urban medium-scale wind power generation. Novel design (patent GB772843A) for compact direct-drive contra-rotating wind-turbine generator is presented, from initial specification in urban setting (e.g. on top of medium-height building) through to laboratory testing. Design is highly efficient and more energy-dense than current generator designs. In addition to patent, proposal based on this concept led to Avison Scholarship in Electrical Energy Management for PhD student to investigate testing of medium-scale renewables.
