Additional information

<07> A key problem with the execution of parallel queries over large-scale autonomous and heterogeneous platforms is that the lack of accurate statistics at compile time and evolving runtime conditions may lead to sub-optimal performance of a statically engineered query plan. This paper is significant because it describes adaptive query processing strategies that can dynamically balance the load (for pipelined and partitioned parallelism) of the different parallel resources at runtime depending on runtime conditions.
