Additional information

<15> Web service annotations provide information about service inputs, outputs and behaviour that support service discovery and selection, but are difficult and time-consuming to produce manually. This paper is significant because it provides an automatic technique for annotating web services that is unique in using workflow provenance logs, which contain information about workflow runs, to propagate annotations between services. Empirical evaluation involving existing manually annotated e-science workflows shows how the approach identified previously unidentified problems with manual annotations.
