Additional information

The work opened a potential way of using scroll air motors for energy recycling. The allowable range for the down-stream pressure reported in the paper can be used to guide industrial applications. The work has then been applied to a new engine system developed by a leading automotive engine company, MAHLE (www.mahle.com, contact has since left the company), for improvement of the turbo charger energy efficiency. The discussion of using the method for gas transmission line energy recovery is on-going with National Grid.
