Additional information

The proposed method of fabric structures’ patterning indicates that, in order to improve current designs, stresses arising from the process of flattening should be accounted for at the load analysis stage. The work was part of a much larger, multidisciplinary research project sponsored by the AHRC/EPSRC under the Designing for the 21st Century theme: www.warwick.ac.uk/design21/. Following its successful completion in 2009, the PI (Lewis) was invited to the AHRC-led event in Bristol “Stimulating Innovation - New Perspectives, Novel Opportunities” to contribute her vision for the future research directions that would cement partnership between the AHRC and TSB.
