Additional information
Funded by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance and based on direct collaboration with an industrial partner (Corry Rubber, PA, USA, www.corryrubber.com), this research developed an innovative cost-effective structural elastomeric damper for seismic and wind hazard mitigation. The project had a strong impact on steel design practice by showing that frames with the new dampers can be significantly lighter (30% savings in steel weight) and perform better under wind and seismic excitations than conventional frames.
