Additional information

This output was based on collaboration with EcoScreed Ltd. It constituted a significant number of complex tests within the context of thermal properties of glass screed as an alternative construction material. Tests were carried out using dedicated apparatus comparing 100% recycled glass replacement screeds with three conventional sand based screeds used in industry. Samples were made in collaboration with the industrial partner according to the industry’s specifications. Glass screeds were shown to save approximately three times the energy of conventional sand counterparts due to good thermal insulation. This research contributed towards the acceptance of glass screed as sustainable construction material.
