Significance of output:

This theoretical paper initiated in a new direction of research into smart-antenna design, which led to 20+ other IEEE journal papers. The significance of the work was recognised through the receipt of "The-Ericsson-Young-Scientist-Award-2011" and the "IEICE-Young-Scientist-Award" for Dr Sugiura and the “28th TELECOM System Technology Award”. The paper inspired international academia (e.g. Edinburgh, IISC Bangalore, UESDC Chengdu) and led to >10 IEEE keynote/plenary lectures (e.g. http://www.eusipco2012.org/home.php; ISCCSP'2012; http://www.comlab.uniroma3.it/isccsp2012/LajosHanzo.htm, WiAD'2012; http://www.wireless-advanced2012.org/keynotespeakers.html) Hanzo was). The hardware realisation is demonstrated at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6yUuJFUtZ4.
