High power pulsed fiber MOPA system incorporating electro-optic modulator based adaptive pulse shaping
Significance of output:
A comprehensive article detailing the principle behind the adaptive pulse shaping technique and the experimental realization of user- defined output pulses. Such a scheme is extremely important for the generation of high energy, nanosecond optical pulses from an all-fibre master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system. The technique has been adopted by other groups (e.g. Friedrich Schiller University, Germany and Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique, France) and may find potential application in EU funded laser fusion system (ICAN: €621,798; 16/01/12-15/07/2013). The work also led to an EPSRC grant (EP/J022144/1) on biomedical photoacoustic imaging with a value of £588,248 (01/10/12 – 30/09/2015).
