Significance of output:
Describes a new on chip atom cooling and trapping technique. The chip designed and fabricated in Southampton offers the possibility to easily create on-chip arrays of atom chips. The work was funded via an EPSRC grant (EP/E043631/1; £1M, 2007-2012). The paper led to an invited paper at the IEEE NEMS conference, Shenzhen, China, Jan. 2009.
