Fully differential electro-mechanical phase locked
loop sensor circuit
Significance of output:
The work is the first fully differential sensor circuit of this type, offering an order of magnitude wider dynamic range than previous circuits for sensors. The approach is intrinsically tolerant of parameter variation compared to previous state of the art sigma delta converter based circuits. The work is part of a programme for extreme environment electronics with evidence of significance including: an invited book chapter in “Extreme Environment Electronics, 2012”; consequent industrial collaborations with Prometheus (stuartrbarnes@btinternet.com) and ASV Global (dan@asvglobal.com); EPSRC Capital Grant for Great Technologies http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/newsevents/news/2013/Pages/85million.aspx (£2.8M); international collaboration, University of Arkansas, USA (EPSRC grants EP/F069871/1 & EP/H014608/1)
