<05> This work is based on a PhD project between 2006 and 2010 and was jointly supervised by Prof Nagar as main supervisor and Dr Tawfik as secondary supervisor. The proposed unified approach demonstrates favourable performance in controlling multiclass flows and exhibits improved network efficiency over other techniques, while not suffering from performance deterioration by large-scale traffic. The potential impact of the proposed unified approach is that it can effectively deal with multiclass traffic and minimise the reliance on multiple isolated traffic control mechanisms in order to overcome the issue of spiralling complicatedness.
