<22>This article appeared in the ‘e-Social Science’ special issue. The paper describes the interdisciplinary activities of the PolicyGrid project (RES-149-25-1027, £385K) funded by the ESRC as part of its contribution to the wider RCUK eScience programme. The work described in the paper led to a number of follow-on projects including PolicyGrid-II (RES-149-25-1075, £885K) and SwarmCloud (JISC-ENGAGE, £37K) - ultimately leading to realisation of the ourSpaces VRE [Edwards1]. The work described here also led to the development (by collaborators at the James Hutton Institute) of the OBIAMA simulation modelling toolkit – which integrates aspects of the provenance framework first discussed here.
