Additional information

This paper explores the floc strength and the growth of flocs and regrowth of broken flocs at various initial dosages of alum and different breakage shears. This paper is of practical and technical interest as floc breakage is inevitable in most water treatment processes. It is resulted of doctorate research project developed by a visiting PhD student from Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 2010. This consisted of extensive data collections that led to 5 more publications on breakage and re-growth of flocs in high impact journals such as Water Research and Membrane Science.
