Additional information

This paper is the first ever submitted work containing a proof of convergence for an adaptive finite element method for eigenvalue problems. In 2009 Giani was awarded the Leslie Fox Prize thanks to this paper. Moreover he was invited by Professor Volker Mehrmann to attend and present his work at a workshop at Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach in 2009. In 2013, together with other three experts, Giani spent time at Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach to research on the topic under the "Research in Pairs" scheme.
