This paper presents a new Element-free Galerkin version of the scaled boundary method and demonstrates that this method is more effective at determining coefficients of crack tip asymptotic fields than any other approach in terms of accuracy relative to number of degrees of freedom. It is internationally excellent in providing a genuinely new approach.
