Additional information

The material for this paper came from a larger research investigation into talent identification and talent development among young people. Over 300 participants from the UK Government funded Centres for Advanced Training took part in this present study. I was Principal Investigator of the project and therefore responsible for devising the original research design and formulating the overarching research questions around talent development. In addition to collecting data, I was involved in preparing the initial draft manuscripts and commenting on, and approving the final paper. Findings of this study demonstrated that characteristics of talented dancers differ across the adolescent years and that talent identification and development criteria should be adapted according to age.
