Additional information

Lost John is one of a series of pieces Riley worked on in 2011 which sought to move beyond the usual purlieus of her fiction into the wilder countryside of the North of England. The focus remains on transgressive characters, and the writing is still very much voice based. Here the speaker is an outsider with a storied history on several continents.
