How well do you see what you hear? : The acuity of visual-to-auditory sensory substitution
<20>Fundamental findings on the information processing capacity of the auditory system for visual information, with implications for non-visual HCI and assistive devices. Follow on EPSRC-funded work at Bath is developing a smartphone app version of the study. The article has been downloaded over 4,700 times and ranks in the top 1% of all articles tracked by Altmetric for the attention it has received, including coverage in Time, BBC Radio, and others. This was the first collaborative empirical study between the lead author's lab and industry (Dr Peter Meijer, Metamodal BV, Netherlands, feedback@seeingwithsound.com).
