Additional information

<28> This paper describes how a graph-based method for representing distributed systems can be combined with the laws of chemical kinetics and thermodynamics, to model control in biological systems. It discusses the conditions under which biological systems will appear to be exhibiting behaviour similar to that of combinatorial logic systems. It indicates how this combination of techniques may be applied to investigate regulation of gene expression in biology. The outcome has been used by a group at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin to create a software tool for automatic systematic generation of artificial genetic regulation networks.
