English abstract

This paper argues that Zambrano attempts a re-evaluation of the categories of reason and delirium, so as to expose the limitations of Cartesian rationality and propose poetic reason as an alternative to it. The relationship between delirium and reality in Zambrano’s thought reveals that, for her, the function of delirium is to enable to the liberation of the individual. In fact, I suggest that Zambrano points to delirium as a pre-requisite of freedom and qualitative change.
