Hydrophone calibration based on microcontrollers for acoustic detection of UHE neutrinos
Novel signal processing techniques and hardware developed by Danaher were used to create a unique line array acoustic calibrator for the current and the next generation (e.g. KM3NeT) of Neutrino telescopes. (STFC/MoD grant PPA/G/S/2003/00509-DTSL/04/JGS/552). The work has led to an international collaboration with the University Of Erlangen (ECAP) and deployment in September 2011 over the ANTARES site (premier pan-European collaboration). The device is currently being upgraded with German funding and we are invited to deploy over the Catania neutrino array in June 2013 (Italian Funding). This work led to an invited talk at the 490th WE Hereaus conference (Germany).
