In addition to her two essays in this volume (pp. 452-75; 647-60), Saunders was also the sole editor of the collection. This collection of 35 original essays was conceived by Saunders, who commissioned the contributors to write their essays, developed the ideas and shape of the volume with them, and undertook editorial correspondence with each contributor. In addition to the Introduction (pp. 1-10), Saunders was also responsible for all editorial matter: Notes, Bibliographies, and Index.
