Additional information

<26> We present a point-based method for non-rigid registration of medical image datasets. We show that point-based methods are as accurate as intensity-based methods, whilst being much faster and more intuitive to use for clinicians and surgeons. The method performs accurate registration of image datasets of typical clinical size in less than one second on a standard PC. It is therefore suitable for image-guided surgery systems where several pre-operatively and/or intra-operatively acquired medical image data sets need to be registered.
