<23> Building on the successful transfer of computer visual surveillance technologies to soccer analysis, this work focussed on the highly complex task of tracking the ball and recovering its trajectory. Employing a novel motion model switching process, the method combines data from several calibrated views and computes parabolic and other motion trajectories using a virtual vertical plane constraint. One exciting element was the use of phase transition graphs between motion types which supports the semantic interpretation of events within the game. Citations suggest, this approach has made an impact on the increasing deployment of computer vision technologies in sport events.
