<12> This paper considers a detailed mathematical analysis of some specific aspects of the Segre variety, in particular the structure under matrix (group) actions. The paper provides mathematical proofs – underpinned by a number of computer based verifications and experiments – to show this particular variety has some characteristic properties. This work developed from computer tools developed and unique to the authors to allow exploration of the geometry and algebra of these structures, which themselves provide applications in Hamming and other codes that have applications in information theory.
