Additional information

<11>This paper proposes an entirely new method of representing and reasoning with constraints by the use of "short supports". This contrasts with dozens of papers in the literature where only a single length of support is allowed - the arity of the constraint. We show that the flexibility of short supports of varying lengths allows massive improvements in run time. The novelty is thus very high and the significance is high too - since it will allow many problems to be solved faster. This paper was published in one of the two top journals in Artificial Intelligence.
