Additional information

<07> This paper is based on an extensive body of work by the authors over almost 20 years. It is an in-depth assessment of the problems with a number of methods of socio-technical systems design, which analyses why these approaches have not been widely adopted. The paper does not propose (yet) another method of socio-techical systems design but suggests how the problems with existing methods might be overcome. Based on discussions with industry, we propose a completely novel approach to how socio-technical methods can be applied in a practical systems engineering context by integrating socio-technical analyses with organizational change management.
