Control Strategies for Patient-Assisted Training Using the Ankle Rehabilitation Robot (ARBOT)
<02>This paper is a culmination of a long-term study in this direction since 2005 and presents a new phase with collaboration between IIT (Italian Institute of Technology) and King’s and with its exploitation. This joint research resulted in 2009 Publishing Award by the Journal of Systems and Control Engineering and a patent on linear actuator and rehabilitation device incorporating such actuator. The collaborative research further resulted in a hospital trial in 2011-2012 at Azienda Usl1 Imperiese, Centre for Rehabilitation and Functional Recovery in Sanremo and a support in 2011 by INAIL (Italian Worker's Compensation Insurance) on lower-limb rehabilitation.
