Additional information

This research discovered the influences of micro EDM parameters during the formation of blind micro holes in terms of hole geometry and surface damage. For the first time it was shown that the electrical conductive bridge between the piled segment and the tool electrode led to reverse electrical discharges which diverge at the bottom of the blind micro hole, giving it a concave form. These research findings were crucial in terms of improving the geometry and surface quality of micro EDM’ed micro holes which are increasingly being used in the automotive, aerospace, and biomedical industries.
