Crystal structure of the tetrameric fibrinogen-like recognition domain of Fibrinogen C
domain containing 1 (FIBCD1)
Part of our established and ongoing collaboration with the Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Southern Denmark and Prof. Uffe Holmskov, a world leader in the field of innate immune protein structure and function. The first structurally characterized plasma membrane protein ectodomain that exploits a FReD pattern recognition ligand binding domain. The structure also reveals for the first time how the FIBCD1 FReD binds sulphated molecules in addition to N-acetylated ligands, combining versatility with conservation to recognise its physiologically important targets which include chitin.
