Additional information

Understanding the performance of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) electrodes in relation to their microstructure is crucial to better design of these electrochemical devices. 3D tomography enables detailed characterization, whilst 3D microstructure models allow the prediction of the electrode performance based on the underlying microstructure. This paper is the first report of combined combination 3D tomography and a microstructure model, enabling the comparison of the experimental and model-predicted electrochemical performance of the same electrode. The validated model is a powerful tool for electrode design.
