Additional information

This paper introduces a framework for joint segmentation/reconstruction of scenes from a small number of manually-operated cameras. This approach improves robustness to input errors and produces high-quality results in challenging environments where state-of-the-art methods perform poorly. This research pioneered the first multi-frame free-viewpoint video system for sports in collaboration with the BBC (graham.thomas@bbc.co.uk) and Hawkeye (paul.hawkins@hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk) and is currently being used in prototypes for TV production. This framework has also been published in ICCV (2009), the main conference in computer vision with an acceptance rate of 20%.
