Fatherhood in Midwifery and Neonatal Practice
This co-authored text is the first to consider fathers’ experiences of pregnancy, childbirth and early newborn care. The book is based on the PhD studies of Dr Kevin Hugill (University of Central Lancashire) and Dr Merryl Harvey. Within the book, modern fatherhood is explored in the context of changing roles and responsibilities, societal and personal expectations and pressures and a developing evidence base. Whilst specifically intended for midwives, children’s and neonatal nurses, it is anticipated that this book will inform all health care professionals and practitioners involved in delivering perinatal care. This timely publication responded to the recent drive in the UK to engage and involve fathers more extensively in the lives of their children.
