Additional information

For the first time, the relative contributions of physical roughening and functionalisation to surface wettability are reported and quantified. This work has catalysed new research into the field of surface functionalisation of polymers via atmospheric electron beam processes in collaboration with Comet AG, Flamatt, Switzerland (Willi Wandfluh) and Prof Arne Miller (Risø High Dose Reference Laboratory, Denmark).
