Additional information

This work constitutes one of my main contributions in complexity analysis and this year has been reprinted in this prestigious volume. The model describes the spillover and cumulative effects present in urban growth process studies that have largely been missing in previous studies. The model is developed within a dynamic framework; it comprises the introduction of two specific elements, viz. an accumulative trend of the determining variables and a diffusion process in their variation. The work has been the basis for the EPSRC grant Small Changes Lead to Large Effects (SCALE) and the EPSRC Programme Grant Liveable Cities.
