Additional information

This is the first demonstration that the self-organising block copolymers can be used as a template to allow the patterning of ferroelectric PZT dots at the nanoscale. It produced self-organised hexagonal arrays of ferroelectric nanodots in the 20nm range, the smallest-yet demonstrated anywhere, and has the potential to influence significantly the development of non-volatile FRAM with sizes in the sub-20nm range. The self-organization of the arrays promises to significantly reduce the costs of array fabrication as it could eliminate the need for some ultra-fine lithographic steps.
